Strategy, Design and Implementation for Comprehensive Web Program

As a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, Semtech Corporation (SMTC) needed a web strategy and corporate website to reflect their brand and industry leading position. Semtech enables mission critical applications for three of their industry’s fastest growing marketings: Internet of Things (IoT); Data Centers; and Mobility. Their web strategy features prominently in their push for greater brand awareness and higher visitor engagement and we were tasked with building an on-brand, scalable solution, focused on key business goals and that integrates with multiple databases and back-end systems.

Working closely with Semtech’s marketing and IT leads, Bynder Group delivered a complete creative, technical, and functional overhaul of their existing website and platform, including introducing an inbound marketing strategy with marketing automation via Hubspot. Our work included strategy, definition, design, and development for this 2k+ page website.

Challenges

The primary project of redesigning and rebuilding the Semtech corporate website involved several key challenges:

Large Scale Engagement for Publicly Held Company:

Working on such a large project with an enterprise-level company presents unique challenges like back-end integration, key stakeholder buy-in, multiple divisions and individual agendas, and managing many contributors that are both client-side and other parties. We approached this project with a process and methodology including:

  • Open and regular communication
  • Agile and flexible collaboration with in-house departments and other consulting firms
  • Accountability to goals and milestones
  • Detailed planning and project management
  • Scalability for expansion and internationalization

Content Management and Databases: 

To improve on the former website’s software and workflows, we provided:

  • Installation and custom-designed Expression Engine for content management and improved administrative workflows
  • Analyzed and recommended database configurations and integrations to improve the workflow and reduce duplicitous data and tasks

User Experience and Visual Design: 

To achieve an optimal user experience, we provided:

  • Interaction design based on current best practices for improved usability and task completion
  • Streamlined presentation of content with more efficient language based on SEO strategy
  • Responsive design and adaptive design
  • Focus on improved branding adherence

Inbound Marketing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO): 

To improve website performance aligned to key performance indicators (KPIs), we consulted on initiating an SEO strategy and inbound methodology, including:

  • Providing consulting, strategy, and integration services for Hubspot for improved lead generation and customer engagement
  • Providing consulting and design services on integrating with Salesforce, including designing several Salesforce community websites as part of the initiative
  • Collaborating with SEO specialists and designing the website for high performing search engine optimization

Positive Results Across the Board: 

Initial results for this website redesign exceeded all goals. The new design showed positive results across the board in the first 30-day report, including double-digit improvements in all metrics indicating more visitors, more page views, and longer time spent on the site.
